Why HMK Marketing?

HMK Marketing was founded and is operated by me, Henna Merchant Krishan. With 15+ years of experience across multiple disciplines - marketing, public relations, SEO/Google Analytics, enterprise sales, communications, business development & partnerships - I know how to produce and execute a winning business strategy for just about any type of industry.

Who's on our team?

Our team is elastic. We keep costs low by training our clients' employees or hiring on their behalf, but I'm the one who produces the business strategy, and does the planning. I direct my SEO and social media team, and developers, to research and deliver that data (or, we source/pay for data as needed) that I need to produce a winning strategy. Then, after the research phase, I bring on the right talent to execute the mutually agreed-upon plan, which is often dictated by the client's budget. 

What have we done?

When I first launched my PR agency in 2008, my first client was author Rohit Bhargava. I helped secure many speaking engagements that contributed to the success of his first two books. Since then, my agency has served a wide variety of clients. We launched the Beverly Hills practice of award-winning, Harvard-trained board certified plastic surgeon Michael K. Obeng, MD, FACS. We've served clients such as XTOPOLY, an award-winning mobile engagement agency with clients such as Paramount Pictures and Google; iVision Mobile, a leading mobile marketing software with clients like the NBA; celebrity chef Govind Armstrong's restaurants; Author Rohit Bhargava; and Modern Estates and Modern Realty Corporation, a brokerage firm holding the #1 sales volume transaction record in Southern California from 2007-2012.

My Professional History:

I began my career in 1999 with the prominent investment advisory firm of J. Stewart Investments in San Francisco, California, managing corporate and client communications, as well as money market accounts for clients over $550 million in net worth. In 2007, I transitioned to PR as Physician Relations Director for prominent Houston Medical Real Estate Developer, Medistar Corporation, a role in which I led the project and sold shares for the successful $12.24 million syndication of St. Luke’s Clear Lake joint venture hospital.

After attending the masters degree program in communications (PR concentration) at the University of Houston, I launched a boutique agency, Clicked PR. I built my career by garnering over $1,000,000 in earned media value across TV, print, online and conference opportunities with the Wall Street Journal, Variety Magazine, Wharton Business Summit and Forrester Research. I've also co-chaired a *non-political* charity gala on behalf of the Asian Pacific American Heritage Association for former President George H.W. Bush, raising $75,000.

In 2013, I was hired by Cision, a $2.4 billion company, to manage relationships and grow their SaaS renewal business across Fortune 100 enterprises and global PR agencies such as Weber Shandwick. I won the President's Club award and exceeded my annual revenue goals through creative strategies that helped my agency clients win more business.  After 4 years at Cision, and with a whole new perspective on how global PR agencies operate, I returned to my agency business again.

Clients can expect fresh ideas and ways of conducting business that traditional agencies aren't thinking about, because their senior leadership doesn't get as involved as we do in helping their junior staff members craft and execute marketing/PR campaigns.
